Problem with upload since yesterday - Perccomteam 07
Good morning,
We are trying to upload our application since yesterday but we have a big issue.
Our application requires a compression library but it is not installed on the server and there is not enough space on the storage. We had just enough to install NodeJS, we are even trying to delete the manual pages to free some space but it is still not enough since this library requires 400 mb to install via apt-get on Debian.
Now it is installed but we still need to upload our app and its dependencies as well as being able to handle user uploads if we have to test with many images
How can we do? Is it possible to have 200 MB more?
Thank you in advance,
Best regards,
Julien D

Hi
the configuration is the same for every team, some of them had the same issue and managed to solve it. I'm very surprised by the size of your application, as many teams fit easily in the 1400 MB allocated space.
you may for example check /var/log and remove a few packages.
reminder of useful commands :
- df to check total disk space usage and availabilty
- du to check a directory size
- rm to remove files and directory (use with caution)
- apt-get remove to remove unused packages
- apt-get clean and apt-get autoremove to tidy Debian installation

Thank you for your answer.
We are working on this.
It is not the actual application which is heavy but the compiling of the libraries, now it should be alright.
Is it okay to kill apache and run our node server on port 80?

it's allowed, indeed, that's why we gave you total control of your VM
(removing apache will free RAM and a few tens of MB disk space, btw)
